Brocophobia

I think it’s official and now I can’t eat it. I fear it. I have ‘brocophobia’. I just can’t stand the smell anymore. I used to like but I think the turning point was me eating so much of it in New York and after that, it was just a display of brutal throw ups. Yucks I know. I suppose I was being greedy then.

The Nation’s Favourite Food – Dinner

Nationwide poll on dinner for the UK. Where they get these all I don’t know. 94% of the people eat their dinners i.e. lazy to cook.

Number 10 – Duck with sauce
Huh. Quite surprise. Though I love my duck from Four Seasons. Duckie duck. That’s for meow.

Number 9 – Risotto

Peasant’s dish. I hardly eat that. But oh well. It seems the stock is the most important ingredient.

Number 8 – Stuffed Chicken Breast

That’s very popular up in the North. But hmmmmmmmm, I never expected it to be so simple. Lol.

Number 7 – Stir Fry

Thank goodness. Very colourful most of the dishes. And it’s quite healthy. A stir fry needs a super hot wok that you fear that the oil will splat onto your face. So, you have to be a bit daring yar.

Number 6 – Chilli Con Carne

Student’s food. But honestly, I never had one. Invented about 200 years in Texas. Oh wow, something the States invented.

Number 5 – Roasted

All time classic. I love it for Christmas lunch though. But it is easy to do. :)

Number 4 – Shellfish

Yummmmmmmmmmy! My favourite. Though it will lead to high cholesterol and high uric acid.

Number 3 – Fish

Very nice. I love fish. Now, I want to makan steam fish la. :(

Number 2 – Curry

Well, it is a BIG influence. But aiya, the one back in Malaysia is definitely so much different. I suppose they changed it to cater for the British taste buds. Well, the Queen likes curry too.

Number 1 – Spaghetti Bolognese

Oh my. The easiest dish of all time. Well, it is quite easy to do but I nearly died when my hallmate cooking like a week’s worth. Nearly dropped dead.

p/s: This post was made like 1 month ago when I was extremely bored and saw it on UK TV. Hehe.

Cold Tea

It just sucks when you drink cold tea. Blah. I have to constantly drink warm fluids because my building is like a freezer. Then my hot beverage cools down faster than usual. Meaning I have to drink it fast. But then drinking so much tea makes me go to the toilet ever so frequent. Cis!

The Nation’s Favourite Food – Breakfast

It is the most important meal of the day. So here is the UK top national favourite food for breakfast after a survey.

Number 10 – Yogurt

The UK eat about 10 times than the weight of the Titanic a year. Well, I’m not too sure how much that is but it sounds a lot. But remember people, yogurt is bad for health because it has A LOT of sugar. We are not suppose to be eating any additional ‘added’ sugar in our daily diet.

Number 9 – Porridge

Well they don’t mean rice porridge like Teo Chew Moi but oat porridge. Well, they seem to eat it with salt or sugar. Salt. Aiya.

Number 8 – Croissant

More than 1/3 UK people have it for breakfast and most of them are in Newcastle. Imperial Chocolate Croissants were good but now it is become so small. Well, I’m not there anymore.

Number 7 – Scamble Eggs

The amount of the UK people eat eggs a year can reach from Earth to the moon.

Number 6 – Bacon Sandwich

NO bacon sandwich with brown bread. Ming bai. Britians are the biggest eaters of bacon in Europe. I wouldn’t surprised if the Americans are the world’s largest eaters of bacon. :)

Number 5 – Fruits

No word rhymes with orange. And apples are better than coffee to wake up a person. Give it a try coffee lovers. :D

Number 4 – Coffee

Wake up with it or drink it. The first coffee shop in the UK was in the1650 . Coffee pushed tea out of the list of beverages in the morning.

Number 3 – Toast

Most Scots voted more than anyone. Marmalade i.e. orange jam is the only jam given a special name. Cool fact, huh?

Number 2 – Cereal

Food and liquid all in one. The brits eat the most in Europe about 4 million bowls everyday. Wheatbix at the top. No two cornflakes look the same. Is it?

Number 1 – Full English

It’s the Daddy of all breakfast. Bacon, sausage, grilled tomato, fried bread, mushrooms, eggs, bake beans, black pudding. I totally agree with this. This makes me very happy.

Two Days of Fun

The day before I supposedly fly off to Norway turned out pretty good. 10 of us(Me, Shea Maine, Winston, Joanne, Wei Shen, Yeo Soon, Edwin, Jenn Shuinn, Jeffery and a new found friend Sandy) met up at Four Seasons though we had a mini request for no Chinese.

Me, Shea Maine, Winston and Joanne.

Jeffery, Wei Shen, Yeo Soon, Edwin and Jenn Shuinn.

We outside the restaurant getting ready to makan duckie duck. And ah! My new found friend, Sandy.

Come to think of it this was a gathering for all Concordians. The seniors, Shea Maine, Me, Jenn Shuinn and Edwin. And with the juniors, Wei Shen, Winston, Joanne and Jeffery. Talking all about the good old times.

Next, we went to Fredv for a drink near Tottenham Court Road. I had a margarita for the first time and it was yummy.

CHEERS! We had a variety. Seven Heavens, Margaritas, Planters Punchs and Mojitos.

Sandy and I. So poser la she. :P

Shea Maine, Edwin and Jeffery. Actually, they came from the hospital. To be doctors lah. :)

So, today, the 5 of us went for Korean. However, it was closed for something. Aihhhhhhhh. I was so looking forward to eating Korean. But we made our way to New Oxford Street and stumbled at this Chinese Restaurant serving Siew Long Pau. Yummmmmmy. :)

This was after lunch after we were fueled up. I don’t know why I looked so happy. Lol.

And Wei Shen and I. Seriously. I don’t really know why we look so happy. Must be the sugar rush. :)

All in all, the past 2 days has been quite fun and at least I had something to do too. Thanks guys.

Today

Cencaluk Chicken for tonight’s dinner. Well, I had to use up tonnes of stuff now in the fridge. Oh yea, I made my lemon cheesecake. I’m quite happy with it. It could have been slightly sweeter and lemony but it is better to eat things less sweet.

At the moment, I’m not feeling too well. I keep getting headaches these days though today I think I have been lacking of sleep. Also, I’m slightly depressed. Aihhhhhhhhh.

Cooking Frenzy

Well, I have been utterly bored here in London doing nothing much other that trying to sort my Norway stuff which slapped me in the face again. So, that’s another story. Anyway, I have been cooking a lot. I have been trying recipes out and they all turned out quite nice.
  1. Claypot taufu with seafood. Okay. I didn’t use a claypot because it wasn’t really necessary. But it was all good. The eggy sauce could have been slightly salty but we should try to eat less salt. The daily intake of salt for a human is 6mg.
  2. Soy Sauce Chicken. I know it sounds plain but it has some other things in it of course not just soy sauce. Quite yummy. I think I would add a bit of sesame oil.
  3. Kiam Chai(Ham Choy) Soup. This weeks soup was very very nice and sweet. I’m shocked with myself. So yummy.
  4. Steamed Chicken Wings. The wings were quite nice. Definitely different than the grilled honey chicken wings I normally do but I wished I had marinated with more marinate.
  5. Raspberry Sorbet. This was to clean my pellet. Very refreshing since London is kinda hot-ish at times. Since it is summer, I better make use of the summer fruits.
Food to come
  1. Diced Chicken with Cashew Nuts. I think that’s going to be yummy.
  2. Kung Po Chicken. The chicken we always have it in the restaurants. This will be my first time using dried chillies. :) Though I might not be doing it since it is deep fried. I didn’t know.
  3. Cencaluk Chicken. Sounds adventurous and I like Cencaluk so why not?
  4. Ayam Pong Tay. Wow. I will try that for sure.
  5. Taufu soup with Pickle Veggie. That’s going to be to an experiment. :)
  6. Abalone Chicken Soup with fish maw. I just love soups.
  7. Lemon Cheesecake. I’m going to make that later this afternoon after my fridge is more empty. I filled it with tonnes of food for the week. Need to feed a growing boy. :P
Okay. I think that’s enough for the 2 weeks I will be here in London before I jet off to Norway. Wish me luck. I hope I don’t get food poisoning.

On Fire

Wahhhhhhhh. My tummy is on fire hahaha. Charlotte and I went to Addie’s for Thai today and man, the food was superbly hot. Oh well, we had to rest a bit because the chilli was basically burning our tongues. Oh well, we shall try it less spicy and pedas. :P

But food was seriously good. Definitely will go there again for my curries.

Black Pepper Chicken

I nearly died of starvation today. All shops were closed due to a holiday(which I believe it is War Veteran Day or something). But luckily, my housemate told me that there was only one Bunnpris which was opened near Tyholt Tower. The day was sunny so why not take a walk.

So after stocking up just for today, I decided to make Black Pepper Chicken. I would say it was quite yummy though I fear I might get a slight food poisoning because the chicken might not have been fully cooked. I realised it but 90% was in my stomach already. I suppose ‘tham chiak’. Pray for me if I survive. :D

Before the Movie

Oh yea! I forgot. I had a nice meal before going to see Spidey. Yes yes, I know it is sad to go by myself for a meal but no one wanted to see the movie lor. Sad right. Where is everyone you need them. Oh well, that’s why I had a nice meal. :D

I just found out that I can’t eat a lot these days. No wonder I lost so much weight. Hmmmmmm. And also did some sight-seeing along the way to the cinema. Will describe it later.

The combo grill. Pork Chop, Pork Ribs and Shrimps. Yummy!

Houses along the river. These houses are protected by UNESCO. It is about 300-400 years old.

Gløshaugen campus on the hill. See I told you the place is very hilly!

The oldest bridge in Trondheim. Built in 1690.

The entrance to Nidaros Cathedral. Quite grand I have to say.
